The Lone Star Synod
The Orthodox Church of Texas (Iglesia Ortodoxa de Texas) is a Western Orthodox Church dedicated to preserving the purity and fundamentals of Orthodox Christianity. Rooted in humility, apostolic tradition, reverence, love, and fellowship, the Church remains unwavering in its commitment to the authentic and true Holy Orthodox faith, safeguarding the teachings handed down by the Holy Apostles and Church Fathers.
Under the omophorion of Catholicos-Patriarch John Pius, and guided by the Bishops of the Holy Synod of Texas (aka the Lone Star Synod), the Church maintains a steadfast dedication to Orthodox tradition. Not only has it upheld time-honored customs, but it has also revived certain practices from the early Church—ensuring that its worship and way of life reflect the faith as it was originally intended. With deep reverence for sacred customs and a devotion to spiritual truth, the Orthodox Church of Texas serves as a beacon for those seeking traditional Western-Rite Orthodoxy. We use a reconstructed version of the Stowe Missal (known as the Revised Stowe Missal) for liturgy and prayer, however for High Mass we use the St. Germanus Liturgy. We actively work to preserve ancient Celtic Christianity and American Orthodox-Catholic traditions. We confess the Orthodox Christian faith, with Scripture and Church tradition central to our daily lives.
We are also known by the names Genuine Orthodox Church of Texas or Society of Saint Arsenio, or by our elongated name "Catholicate of the Celtic Orthodox Catholic Church of Texas, North America, and Abroad", or by our Spanish name Iglesia Ortodoxa de Texas. We are based in Texas but not entirely in Texas, as we have clergy abroad (mostly in Latin America and Northern Europe).
We welcome all to join and be saved. If you have any questions about our beliefs, please contact us as we do not want any confusion.
May God bless the Church, its members, and our beloved partners. May God strengthen the righteous defenders of Holy Orthodoxy. May God guide all seekers toward the fullness of the Orthodox faith.
Glory be to the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.
